Bath

This week I worked with WN Interiors to help carry out the installs of 5 serviced apartments in Bath. Even though it has been really hard work, with a lot of lifting, travelling and moving things around, I have really enjoyed seeing the space transform from a blank canvas to 5 fully serviced apartments. Being in the central location of bath, you really get a feel for who might actually be using these apartments, what things they may do while they are there etc. It is nice to be a part of the install stage of the project as it is really interesting to see how things progress from the computer in the office to a real physical form, and this is something I have not had a lot of experience of.

Below are some pictures that WN Interiors took when we finished the install to near completion.

Some things I found difficult were the physical side of the install – carrying and moving things around all day can be tiring, and it may be easier to go in with a plan, but this can be difficult to do as furniture and items for the space will arrive at different times, and you can’t really predict if there will be obstacles during the installation phase. The WN Interiors team have been really helpful during my time here so far and are always prepared to explain things and answer any questions I may have which is amazing and really accommodating, and I feel as though I am definitely gaining from this experience as I hope they are too.

Some of the things that I did during the installation phase include:

· Arranged art work

· Assembled some furniture

· Helped to changeover bed (took un assembled parts down to the bottom of the building, owners decided they want to swap the beds over)

· Removed rubbish and packaging

· Made note of anything that may need repairing (there was a lot of vintage furniture, which may have been prone to easily breaking)

· Helped load and unload van

Reflection

This week has been really hard physically, but it's actually been really fun and I would love to work on more installs in the future. I decided to come in for one extra day after this week (week 7) to help the WN Interiors team finish off the install of the 5 serviced apartments in Bath, ready for the photoshoot on Tuesday. From the previous discussion in my blog post, you can see that it was finished to near completion. I went back to Bath with Nick and Nadine to help add the finishing touches and clear up any mess that may have been left.
